Club Atlético River Plate surprised the football community by announcing that 11 players will not travel to Spain for preseason. The club officially announced the drastic decision through a statement. The players who will not travel are Paulo Díaz, Maximiliano Meza, Germán Pezzella, Fabricio Bustos, Alex Woiski, Maximiliano Salas, Giuliano Galoppo, Ian Subiabre and Santiago Lencina. Additionally, Kevin Castaño and Matías Galarza Fonda will rejoin training once their participation in the 2026 World Cup is over. Andrés Herrera, who is ending his loan in Columbus Crew, has serious chances of being transferred to the MLS team. The club assured that four other players who will be part of the preseason were declared transferable and that their agents are already aware of the decision.
